Pakistan insists on airstrikes in Afghan territory; no militants have been killed so far

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir, has said that lasting peace and stability in the region depend on preventing the activities of groups that Islamabad describes as India-linked militant organizations from Afghan territory.

Speaking at a meeting of Pakistan’s army commanders, Munir said the Taliban have a direct responsibility in this regard and that Pakistan will continue operations against these groups.

He added that the Pakistani military will carry out intelligence-based operations and take all necessary measures to protect the country’s security.

Meanwhile, the Afghan Taliban have rejected allegations of supporting or allowing the presence of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Afghanistan, saying they will not allow anyone to use Afghan territory against other countries.

Pakistani officials claim that TTP and other militant groups have bases in Afghanistan, while United Nations reports have highlighted civilian casualties in Pakistani airstrikes.

The statements come as Pakistan has carried out several attacks inside Afghanistan in recent months, causing damage to civilian areas and facilities. The strikes have drawn international criticism, while no major TTP figure has so far been confirmed killed in these attacks.
