Girls’ Schools Remain Closed in Afghanistan for 1,700 Days

In Afghanistan, the closure of girls’ schools has now reached 1,700 days, leaving millions of girls without access to education and bringing their learning process to a complete halt.

During this period, many Afghans inside the country, along with civil society activists and education experts, have repeatedly called for an end to the ban. They stress that girls’ education is essential for the country’s future development and stability.

Meanwhile, several international organizations and human rights groups continue to urge the Taliban to reopen schools for girls without further delay and to restore their right to education.

Despite these ongoing calls, no practical roadmap or official plan has yet been announced by the Taliban, and the situation of girls’ education remains unchanged.
