Sources say that Mansoor Niazi, a presenter for Tolo News, was detained in Kabul last Thursday.
According to the sources, Niazi disappeared from Kabul’s Karte Char area and is believed to have been taken away by the Taliban’s intelligence agency.
Two days after his detention, no official information has been released regarding his whereabouts or condition.
Neither Tolo News nor Taliban officials have commented on the incident so far.
Meanwhile, another official from Pegard News Agency has also reportedly been detained by the Taliban in Kabul.
The incident comes as independent media in Afghanistan have faced increasing restrictions since the Taliban returned to power, with arrests of journalists and the closure of media outlets having a significant negative impact on press freedom and media content across the country.
