In a statement, the group expressed sorrow over the killing of the well-known religious scholar from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sheikh Idris, and extended condolences to his family and students.
The statement claimed that the incident was a “staged conspiracy” orchestrated by Pakistan’s military intelligence agency. According to the group, state institutions are systematically attempting to discredit and eliminate religious scholars in order to appease their Western allies.
Meanwhile, some political analysts suggest that the killing may be linked to intelligence operations, noting that it occurred just days after Sheikh Idris publicly praised the current government. They added that the ISI has previously faced allegations of involvement in targeted killings, and such incidents continue to raise concerns.
On the other hand, some pro-establishment figures and affiliated accounts are reportedly attempting to attribute the killing to government opponents, citing Sheikh Idris’s recent statements.
