Save the Children: The lives of families affected by the earthquake are at risk as the freezing winter season begins.

In a statement published on its website on Monday, January 26, Save the Children said that nearly 5,700 families are still living in tents amid severe cold and snowfall, protected from snow and icy winds by only a single tarpaulin.

The statement added that five months after the earthquake, many children and their families in Afghanistan’s eastern provinces continue to use tents as their homes, and the cold weather poses a serious threat to the lives of earthquake-affected children.

This comes as snowfall and rainfall were reported on Tuesday, January 27, in the eastern provinces of Afghanistan.
