Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the attempted drone attack on the holy site of Makkah Al-Mukarramah and called it a disgraceful and heinous act.
Shehbaz Sharif said that the people of Pakistan are saddened and concerned by this reprehensible and unforgivable act.
He added that there are no words strong enough to express the deep grief and sorrow of the people of Pakistan over this act.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan praised the Royal Saudi Armed Forces for their swift and professional action, saying that he salutes their extraordinary vigilance, courage, and professionalism.
Shehbaz Sharif once again called on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and step back from further conflict and escalation.
He said that the region has already suffered greatly because of wars, and that dialogue and diplomacy are the only sustainable path to peace.
Shehbaz Sharif stressed that Pakistan will stand alongside Saudi Arabia and continue its support for the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, as well as the security and sanctity of the Haramain Sharifain.
He said that the defence and security of the Haramain Sharifain is a responsibility that every Pakistani carries in their heart.
This comes as Pakistan also has a security agreement with Saudi Arabia, under which an attack on one country is considered an attack on both countries. However, attacks on Saudi Arabia have continued over the past several days, while Pakistan has remained silent on them and is merely condemning the attacks.
