Modi urges citizens to change profile pictures in honour of “Sindoor Operation”

Indian Prime Minister has said that the country’s armed forces displayed strong response against militants during the “Sindoor Operation” a year ago and carried out an important action for the protection of civilians.

He urged citizens to change their profile pictures on social media platforms including X, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp to a special image shared in honour of the operation and the armed forces.

The announcement has reportedly received widespread support from Indian officials, athletes and the public, many of whom have already updated their social media profile pictures.

According to reports, the operation was launched after an armed attack on tourists in the Pahalgam area, which resulted in civilian casualties. India described the incident as an act of terrorism and blamed militant groups operating from safe havens across the border in Pakistan.

Following the attack, Indian security forces carried out limited and targeted cross-border retaliatory operations aimed at dismantling militant hideouts and preventing further attacks.
