Indian media: Afghanistan to host T20I series against India in September

Indian media outlets have reported that the Afghanistan and India national cricket teams are set to play a three-match T20 International series in September this year. According to the reports, all matches are expected to be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

However, neither the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) nor the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has officially confirmed the series yet. Indian media say that preparations and scheduling arrangements are in the final stages.

If confirmed, this would mark the first time Afghanistan officially “hosts” India in a bilateral series, although the matches would still take place on Indian soil.

The development comes as Afghanistan’s national cricket team is already in India, where they are set to play a Test match and a three-match ODI series against the host nation.
