The nationwide Kankor examination for 2025 began on Thursday across 15 provinces and five districts of Badakhshan Province without the participation of girls, with thousands of male candidates taking part.
The General Directorate of Examinations stated that the Kankor process started in various provinces in the presence of local officials, monitoring teams, examiners, and candidates, and that examination question boxes were opened in front of participants.
According to the information provided, the first round of this year’s Kankor includes the provinces of Maidan Wardak, Parwan, Ghazni, Kunar, Baghlan, Faryab, Badghis, Logar, Kapisa, Paktika, Herat, Sar-e Pol, Uruzgan, and Ghor. In addition, five districts of Badakhshan Province—Fayzabad, Baharak, Shighnan, Darwaz, and Khwahan—are also included in this process.
The General Directorate of Examinations further stated that candidates’ biometric information for this phase was registered on the 22nd and 23rd of the month of ثور (Saur), and the first-day exam was held today.
The exams are expected to continue in some provinces on Friday, while the third day of the examination in Maidan Wardak and Kunar provinces will be held on Saturday.
Officials have emphasized that all stages of the Kankor examination are conducted based on transparency, fairness, and neutrality, and that the results will be announced in a transparent and secure manner without any interference.
This comes as the ban on girls’ education has now entered its fifth consecutive year, drawing widespread public reactions as well as international criticism and concern.
