Severe damage has been reported across Afghanistan due to recent heavy rains and natural disasters. Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid stated, citing the Afghan solar month of Sarey, that the recent rainfall, floods, and other natural events have caused significant human and financial losses to the population.
Mujahid wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page that 61 people have been killed and 116 others injured. Four individuals are reported missing, and 2,448 homes have been completely or partially destroyed. Additionally, 26,841 jerib of agricultural land have been damaged, and 1,045 animals have died.
