UNAMA reports 613 Afghan civilian deaths from Pakistani military strikes in 2025

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said in its latest report that 613 Afghan civilians were killed in 2025 as a result of Pakistani military attacks.

According to UNAMA, this marks the highest number of Afghan civilian casualties attributed to Pakistan in the past 15 years. The report said that in the final three months of 2025 alone, Pakistani military strikes killed 70 Afghan civilians and injured 478 others.

UNAMA called on all parties involved to clearly distinguish between civilians and military targets and to refrain from attacking civilian infrastructure. The mission stressed that respect for international human rights law and the laws of war is the responsibility of all sides.
