UN Warns Against Forced Return of Afghan Migrants, Urges Immediate Halt by Host Countries

The UN Human Rights Office has once again issued a strong warning about the ongoing forced return of Afghan migrants from host countries, urging governments to immediately stop the practice.

Spokesperson Shabia Mantoo expressed serious concern during a press briefing over the deportation of vulnerable Afghans, including men, women, and children.

She said these individuals are being sent back to Afghanistan against their will, placing them at serious risk of human rights violations and harm.

The deported groups reportedly include highly vulnerable people such as journalists, civil society activists, and former security personnel.

Mantoo warned that forcibly returning individuals who face serious risks is in violation of the fundamental principles of international law.

The United Nations reiterated that host countries must refrain from actions that endanger Afghan migrants and must comply with their international legal obligations.
