Today, September 21, is the International Day of Peace; a day that is observed every year to call for an end to wars, a reduction in violence, tolerance, and understanding.
The United Nations designated this day in 1981, and it has been observed around the world since 1982.
The purpose of the International Day of Peace is to encourage people and countries to promote the peaceful resolution of conflicts, dialogue, and the strengthening of a culture of peace.
This comes at a time when Pakistan’s military regime carried out airstrikes today, on the International Day of Peace, in Afghanistan’s Paktika and Kunar provinces, killing three people and injuring four others. Women are also among those killed and injured.
