The Indian Cricket Board has announced two separate squads for the upcoming Test match and three One Day International (ODI) matches against Afghanistan, with Shubman Gill appointed as captain for both formats.

The series will begin on June 6 in India and will be played in both Test and ODI formats.

On the other hand, the Afghanistan Cricket Board has not yet announced its official squad for the series, while most Afghan players are currently engaged in domestic cricket competitions.

India ODI squad:

Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Harpreet Brar, and Harsh Dubey.

India Test squad:

According to data from the International Cricket Council (ICC), Afghanistan and India have met only a limited number of times in international cricket, mostly in World Cup and ODI matches.

India is considered one of the strongest teams in world cricket, with extensive experience in global tournaments, while Afghanistan has made rapid progress in recent years and has delivered notable performances against full-member nations.

So far, the two teams have had very limited encounters in the Test format, and this upcoming series will mark a significant new experience between the two sides in Test cricket.
