Afghan Girls Call for Access to Education Beyond Grade Six

Only a few days remain until the start of the new academic year, but hopes for girls returning to schools remain low. Some girls say they fear being deprived of education for the fifth consecutive year.

Afghan girls emphasize that education should be equally accessible to all, and no one should be excluded from learning based on their gender. They demand their right to education, saying that teaching and learning should be available to everyone. Afghan girls are calling for access to education beyond grade six.

Several Afghan politicians, civil society organizations, and international human rights bodies have repeatedly reacted to the restrictions on girls’ education and called for the removal of existing barriers. They say that depriving girls of education slows down societal progress and contradicts both Islamic and international standards.
