Qani Urges International Community to Act Against Drug Cultivation and Trafficking in Pakistan

Abdul Mateen Qani, spokesman for the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior, has called on the United Nations and the international community to condemn the cultivation, production and trafficking of narcotics in Pakistan.

Speaking to a private television channel, Qani said narcotics are cultivated and processed in Pakistan’s Balochistan province before being smuggled into Afghanistan and other countries.

He urged the international community to take swift action to prevent these activities.

Earlier, Asia Review reported in an analytical report that poppy cultivation had expanded significantly in Balochistan following Afghanistan’s ban on poppy cultivation and drug trafficking.
